The Brief
Birmingham Airport formally known as Birmingham International Airport is the seventh biggest airport in the UK with a passenger through put of 11.6million. Freedom has been appointed to carry out the HV maintenance and HV upgrades to ensuring there are no unplanned outages and 100% resilience to their network.
The Approach
Freedom’s in-house technical team of SAP’s, Protection Engineers, fitters and electricians, have provided maintenance for over ten years at Birmingham Airport, working closely with the airport’s technical/delivery team.
Freedom has an assigned, dedicated account manager to the contract. The account manager arranges all works with the client and attends regular review meetings and all inspection and maintenance works are subject to an agreed programme of works.
By running planned and proactive HV maintenance, using additional Freedom Group resources when required, the secure and reliable high voltage infrastructure for the airport is sustained.
The Delivery
Birmingham airport has excellent HV network stability and reliability. Our experienced staff work to the necessary restrictions and security measures to ensure that this is maintained.
Freedom provides Birmingham with annual inspections and full maintenance over the course of the contract. As part of the planned work, defects are identified and Freedom is also appointed to complete these during separate visits to site.
Additionally, the site is covered by Freedom’s 24 hour emergency call out service. When a fault occurs, Freedom mobilises engineers to site within 4 hours. In the majority of cases the outage is rectified quickly and efficiently to prevent any down time and disruption to the site.
