Freedom Group, a leading provider of facilities and power engineering services, is pleased to announce it has been shortlisted in three categories in the Fleet News Awards 2018.
Following its success last year scooping the ‘Fleet of the Year 251-1000 vehicles’ award, Freedom has this year been shortlisted in the ‘Fleet of the Year up to 1,000 vehicles’ and ‘Most Improved Fleet of the Year’ categories. In addition, Freedom’s Head of Fleet, Paul Brown, has been shortlisted in the ‘Fleet Manager of the Year’ category.
Paul comments: “Over the last two years we have continued to roll out telematics to our fleet. This has helped us to manage and support our drivers in reducing their speed which has resulted in a decreased accident rate of 30%.
“Our drivers are now not only driving more safely but efficiently as well which helps us to reduce our carbon footprint. The on-going monitoring of our vehicles mpg performance combined with the information generated from the telematics, such as driver style, routes taken and vehicle idling times, means that the CO2 emissions from our fleet can be calculated more accurately.”
“We are proud of the transformation in our drivers and the change in culture over the past year. Safety and customer excellence and a reduced carbon footprint are now recognised across the business as key priorities which everyone is responsible in achieving.”
Paul also talks to Fleet News in a recent interview on why he selected flexi-rent for the Group’s fleet in order to eliminate early termination fees, and now he wants suppliers to solve the uncertainty of end of contract damage recharges (read the article here).
The Fleet News Awards, now in its 30th year, represent the pinnacle of fleet achievement. Judged by some of the most respected fleets, leasing providers and pricing guides in the country, chaired by ex-SMMT chief executive Christopher Macgowan and audited by Deloitte, they combine transparency with robust deliberations to ensure only the very best companies and people are victorious.
Winners will be announced at the Fleet News Awards ceremony on 14 March at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
