Freedom was contracted by EDF Energy Networks division to design, supply, install and commission a 132kV auto switching system for Eltham Grid 132kV substation.

Client(s) EDF Energy
Location South London
Project Start Date January 2005
Project Completion Date October 2005

"

Installation and commissioning was carried out successfully during summer 2005 to an ever changing outage programme.

"

The auto switching system utilized VA-Tech ‘IOTA’ programmable logic units to effect the required switching logic and was provided in a free standing 19” rack cubicle with separate wall mounted terminal box.

Replacement feeder protections were supplied in pre-wired 19” rack format front sheets.

Freedom was appointed Principal Contractor by EDF Energy and carried out all design engineering activities. Installation and commissioning was carried out successfully during summer 2005 to an ever changing outage programme (delays enforced by overrunning transmission outages in the London area).
