NWP Power Systems (part of Freedom) were successful in winning this contract which involved the removal of 8metre concrete columns which had surpassed their life expectancy. The new lighting scheme consisted of galvanised steel lighting columns complete with Son-T lanterns which upgraded the antiquated SOX lantern.
Corus is Europe’s second largest steel producer with annual revenues of approximately £12billion and a crude steel production of 20million tonnes.
In addition, new feeder pillars were installed complete with integral three phase TP&N distribution panels connected to the existing Low Voltage private network.
In total 120 new lighting columns were supplied, installed and commissioned with all service connections undertaken by our own fully qualified cable jointers.
On final completion all works were tested, commissioned and successfully energised in accordance with prescribed timescales and to the complete satisfaction of the client. Due to this particular contract, NWP have secured numerous projects with Corus for both internal and external lighting schemes at their manufacturing complex in Deeside, North Wales.
