The Brief

Freedom deliver building and civil asset maintenance to over 20,000 sites within the whole of Yorkshire and the North East of England. The frameworks have been in place since 1996 and cover planned, reactive and emergency works. The operations we carry out are:

  • building fabric and services maintenance
  • building inspection and surveys
  • minor civil works
  • HV electrical installation and maintenance
  • electrical repair, maintenance, test and inspections
  • project management
  • security systems and access control

We also provide a 24/7, 365-day reactive repair service.

The Approach

Freedom’s one-team approach, working closely with Northern Powergrid’s (NPG), resulted in the firm foundations of a relationship that has been in place for over 19 years.

This framework has been renewed on several occasions and our relationship with NPG continues to this day. From the onset, we have paid particular attention to core NPG drivers and business goals, and have engendered a one-team approach. During the contract, we have not only complied with the client specification, but we have also majored in implementing a continuous improvement programme which has driven both service delivery and financial benefit.

Due to challenging economic conditions, we have consistently been able to show the client year-on-year financial benefits through cost reduction and improved productivity. In line with our Safety First approach, we strive to deliver zero harm services through stringent compliance with statutory health, safety and environmental management.

The Delivery

Our operatives have the ability to communicate with their operational bases using hand-held technology interfaced with computerised workflow management software. Where required, our group IT department can work with the client’s team to explore integration methodology of the client’s IT system.

We place great emphasis on health, safety, environmental and quality management. Our contract management teams include a high level of field management, who carry out both monitoring and auditing to ensure we meet statutory and client compliance, and the contractual requirements, including service levels and key performance.

From our initial contact with NPG until the present day, all teams associated with the framework have exceeded all expectations to deliver a professional and high-quality service. The demanding conditions allowed us to excel and deliver to the client’s requirements on time and to budget.
