Freedom Group 'Commended' in the RoSPA Industry Sector Awards 2011 - 19 April 2011

Freedom Group is delighted to have won a 'Commended in the Electricity Industry Sector' award in the prestigious RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2011.

Having won gold medal awards for six years running, this wonderful achievement recognises the organisations that have demonstrated the best health and safety management performance within the industry.

Alan Stewart, Safety, Health and Environment Director commented: "We are very proud to have received this award. It was won due to the hard work and diligence of very many people in the business. Safety is such a core value and we can never take it for granted, so to have our efforts acknowledged in such an esteemed manner is wonderful".

Mark Bullock, Electricity Division Managing Director, added: "Safety is at the heart of our values and is a critical aspect of everything that we do. We recognise that the environments our staff operate in can be dangerous, which is why we place such great importance on health, safety and welfare.

Winning this award demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the achievement of the highest levels of safety performance and we are truly delighted to have received it". 

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), a safety charity, launched its awards programme 55 years ago. The scheme looks not only at accident records, but also entrants' overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.

David Rawlins, RoSPA's Awards Manager, said: "RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that have demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. Freedom Group has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award."

The 'Commended in the Electricity Industry Sector' award will be publicly presented to Freedom Group on 17th May 2011.
