The client wanted to improve safety and security with new automated sliding gates for a Court of Justice in Belgium. The assignment was to remove the existing gates and to install a reliable operating system for the perimeter gates, gates for the underground car park, the transit of defendants and for the transport of prisoners.
The accessibility and security of the site had to be guaranteed at all times, as well as the closure of both the perimeter and the underground car park after closing time. The gates for prisoner transfers, together with the transit zone gates, were to be operational at any given moment. Close working and agreed processes with the police service and the management of the courts was essential. Custom-made high quality safety edges were installed on the gate wings and the danger zones of the gate guiding posts. While responsive redundant signal transmissions to the gate controller and IR photocells were used, as they are insensitive to environmental factors.
Freedom installed cabling for the power supply of photocells and safety edges, IR-photo cells for the detection of vehicles and pedestrians, resistance sensitive safety edges, inductive signal transmission systems for the gate controller. Freedom tested and commissioned the new equipment into service.
