Rayleigh 132kV GIS Substation
Client(s): Siemens PT&D for EDF Energy
This project involved Freedom in the civil and structural engineering design for a new 132kV Gas Insulated Switchgear type substation at Rayleigh for EDF Energy. The building design is two storey steel framed with insulated profiled steel cladding and in-situ reinforced concrete first floor.
Neepsend Emergency River Bank Repairs
Client(s): CE Electric
Heavy seasonal rainfall caused the river bank to erode exposing 3 x 33kV oil filled cables and 2 x 11kV cables.

Power Fence Installation
Client(s): CE Electric UK
Freedom have been employed to design, install, commission and maintain power fence security installations in the NEDL and YEDL areas of CE Electric UK. The work comprises the installation of a 3.00m high Gallagher Power Fence System to existing 2.40m high palisade fencing.
Kearsley 132kV GIS Substation
Client(s): Siemens for United Utilities
This particular project was awarded by United Utilities to Siemens PT&D following an extensive tender process. Freedom assisted Siemens with the proposed design during the tender process and was notated as Civil Designers to the civil construction company.
Sparling Street 132/33kV Substation
Client(s): Siemens Power Transmission Distribution (PT&D)
The Sparling Street project involved a new 132/33 kV substation in the centre of Liverpool to supply the new £400m Paradise Street redevelopment.
Elland Substation rebuild
Client(s): CE Electric
Freedom was awarded the contract from CE Electric for the rebuild of YEDL’s 132 KV grid supply substation at Elland, West Yorkshire. The project involved the demolition and rebuild of 17 circuits of air insulated switchgear on a phased programme over a four year period.
Chevin End Substation
Client(s): CE Electric
Freedom were working for YEDL in providing Engineering Projects under a Framework Consultancy contract providing civil design, structural engineering, quantity surveying and project management services.
Barugh 66/11KV Substation
Client(s): YEDL
Freedom were awarded a contract for Civil & Electrical design engineering, site installation and commissioning works associated with the redevelopment of Barugh 66/11kV substation, located in South Yorkshire.
Wind Turbine, B&Q Warehouse
Client(s): Ecotricity
As part of their ‘Merchant Wind’ offering, Ecotricity have installed a single 2MWe Enercon E82 turbine at the rear of the B & Q site in Worksop.
